Spanish
Special Opportunities
There are unlimited ways for you to strengthen your Spanish language skills and gain a strong understanding and appreciation for the culture as a Concordia Spanish and Hispanic studies major. At Concordia, we require every Spanish and Hispanic studies major to study abroad, so you’ll have the once-in-a-lifetime chance to become immersed in the Hispanic culture for a semester in Segovia, Spain, Mexico, Argentina, Peru, Chile or Costa Rica. You can either study at a university or take part in our international business program and intern at a Spanish-speaking company. Our students have interned in many different fields including communications, psychology, city government, education, radio and television. Many shorter study abroad opportunities are also available, including Exploration and May Seminars, along with Justice Journeys and Habitat for Humanity trips to Mexico and Nicaragua. One of Concordia’s most popular Language Villages is El Lago del Bosque, near Bemidji, Minn. This language and culture immersion camp is the perfect place for a Spanish student retreat, or like many of our students, you can work at the Villages as language counselors during the summer or academic year weekend programs. Either way, you’ll fine-tune your speaking skills and enjoy the music, dance, activities and food.
