Why Study Sociology at Concordia?
A major in sociology enables you to become proficient at critical thinking, basic data collection and analysis, written communication and oral presentation. These abilities can be applied in many professions and interesting career choices including education, business, criminal justice, human services and government administration.
You will also be able to relate your classroom experiences with opportunities to intern at local agencies and/or study abroad. The sociology program offers Exploration and May Seminars to locations in Europe and South Africa. There also is a new innovative summer course abroad option for studying societal changes in South Africa after apartheid. This course will be taught in South Africa.
By providing you with solid academic preparation combined with your internship and/or study abroad experiences, the sociology program at Concordia will help you develop the knowledge base, thinking skills and communication proficiencies you need to succeed beyond graduation.
