Programs of Study

Major or minor in religion at Concordia, preparing yourself for a variety of careers, including seminary. Our department offers academic courses on Luther and his teachings, Catholicism, Protestant and World Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, and other Asian religions. We strive to help students better understand their own beliefs in light of other faiths, religions and perspectives. A Concordia religion major or minor will help you learn more about religious issues in our increasingly complex world.  As a second major, religion helps you be a more rounded and widely educated graduate as well.

Courses in the Faith and Leadership concentration prepare you for leadership in faith communities, service organizations, non-profits, outdoor ministry settings, graduate study in practical theology and more. The religion major with a Faith and Leadership concentration is designed to easily pair with other majors or minors, allowing you to anticipate diverse future work settings.

Requirements for this concentration are the same as a religion major, plus three additional courses, a practicum experience and a one-credit reflection seminar. Faith and Leadership courses are open to all students regardless of your major and it develops your capacity for resilient faith-based leadership for our changing world.
