Religion

You expect a strong religion department at Concordia, a college of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, and that’s what you’ll find. Our program ties into the college’s Core Curriculum and all students take at least two religion courses. Whether you’re majoring in religion, considering a minor or just excited to take a few courses, you’ll be free to choose from a wide variety of religion classes, including biblical studies, Christianity, world religions, science and religion, ethics, religion and popular culture and religious history.

We know you’ll be excited to delve into religious texts, sit down with one of our top-notch faculty to discuss a paper or your future plans, and even travel abroad to learn about religion and faith firsthand. The study of religion will prepare you for seminary, graduate school, youth ministry, or a number of other careers, all while taking challenging courses that make you examine your own beliefs and learn to better articulate your thoughts.

Concordia’s religion department offers this major and minor:

  • Major in Religion
  • Major in Religion with a Faith and Leadership Concentration
  • Minor in Religion

Courses in the Faith and Leadership concentration prepare you for leadership in faith communities, service organizations, non-profits, outdoor ministry settings, graduate study in practical theology and more.
