Special Opportunities

A political science major at Concordia is designed to give you the opportunity to find your interests and expand on them. You will benefit from a breadth of study within the field, including U.S. politics, international relations, comparative politics and political philosophy. Once you fulfill the required classes, you have range to focus on what you want. Our faculty have a wide range of specialties and are there to help you specialize your major.

We have a number of enriching opportunities outside the classroom as well. Want to experience the center of American politics in Washington D.C.? Try our Washington Semester program where you will intern at your choice of businesses in the nation’s capital. Or experience the political science May Seminar offered every other year. Past May Seminars include studying health care, criminal justice, sexual harassment in the workplace and environmental policy in places such as Paris, Munich, Salzburg, Prague, Budapest and London. Or if you want to study abroad for a whole semester, political science majors often participate in the Credo in Crete program and the Social Justice, Peace and Development Semester in India.

If you want to broaden your horizons closer to home, Concordia’s political science department offers a Mock Trial program, a perfect way to build valuable research and communication skills. We also offer exciting internships through the Cooperative Education Office to take your classroom studies to the next level.
