Why Study Philosophy at Concordia?

To put it simply, Concordia's philosophy department loves to teach. While all of the members of the department are scholars recognized for their academic achievements, their main purpose for teaching at Concordia is to mentor students. They also participate in the Credo honors program.

In courses like Philosophy of Film and Philosophy of Art, to those on individual philosophers like Sören Kierkegaard and ancient philosophers like Socrates, Plato and Aristotle, the professors in Concordia's philosophy department make the material vital and inspiring. Our small department size allows professors and students to interact on a one-to-one level, allowing time to meet to discuss ideas, books and the meaning of life. Through engaged example and discussion, students learn to listen carefully, read complex texts insightfully, and come to love the study of philosophy.
