Special Opportunities
Concordia's Norwegian and Scandinavian Studies Program was recently reorganized, all in efforts to make the majors more accessible and relevant to our students. What that means for you is a wonderful balance of history, culture, modern-day issues facing Scandinavia and plenty of language practice - all designed to give you the tools to use your Norwegian in very real ways.
Hone your language skills, while having an experience of a lifetime, as a staff member at one of our Scandinavian Language Villages - Sjölunden (Swedish), Skogfjorden (Norwegian), Skovsøen (Danish) or Salolampi (Finnish). These renowned language and cultural immersion programs are amazig learning environments for the young villagers and counselors.
Take your studies overseas on one of our weeklong Exploration Seminars, monthlong May Seminars or even for a semester or a year through other programs. We have an expanding relationship with the University of Tromsø, and longstanding ties to Hedmark College and other institutions in Norway.
Other opportunities:
- Meet with native speakers and other students weekly for Conversation Table, a chance to practice your conversational Norwegian.
- Join the Scandinavian Club and take part in Homecoming parade, attend an Ibsen play, cook Scandinavian food, learn Scandinavian folks, watch films and host events throughout the year.
