How Do I Place a Hold?

If a book or other item you want is checked out, you have two choices:

  • Place it on hold. This means that as soon as the item is returned to the library, it will be set aside for you and you will be notified that it is available for pickup at the Library's Circulation Desk. (See below.)
  • Request the item from another library. (Here's how.)

Placing a Hold

  1. The Hold function in MnPALS Plus is not currently functioning, but you may place holds on library materials by accessing the classic MnPALS catalog.  Once you are in the library catalog, you will need to log in to place items on hold. Click on the My Account link at the top of the screen. Your User ID/Barcode is the 14-digit Library # on your Concordia ID, and your password is your last name.

  2. After logging in, click the "Basic Search" link in the blue menu bar. Locate your item in the catalog.

  3. Click the item's link in the column "Library (Owned/Out)." Note when the item is due. If you do not need the item before the due date, click on the "Place Hold" link and fill out the online form.

  4. You will receive a notice when the item is available for pickup at the Library's Circulation Desk.
