Food and Noise Policies

The Carl B. Ylvisaker Library is committed to providing an environment that is conducive to study as well as welcoming to all users.

Noise/Cell Phones

Throughout the Library, courtesy and thoughtfulness should govern all conversations out of respect for the study needs of others. Those who do not abide by this policy will be asked to refrain from noisy activity or to move to another area. The designated area for cell phone conversations is the library entrance.

Food

Because the Library needs to protect and preserve books, equipment and furniture, common sense dictates the types of food and beverages that are allowed. Drinks must be in covered, spill-proof containers or capped bottles. Light snacks are acceptable. Library users are expected to discard their own trash and to report any spills. Those who do not abide by this policy will be expected to discard inappropriate food or to remove it from the library.

Library users are encouraged to ask noisy or disruptive people to follow these policies. They may report problems to a staff member.
