Policies
Community Users Circulation Policy
We encourage Fargo-Moorhead community members to use their public libraries for library services. However, visitors are welcome to use our services, although on a limited basis. Priority will always be given to the members of the Concordia community.
Community Cards
In order to use our services, visitors must have a Community card, available at the Circulation desk. In order to receive a Community card, a person must present a current proof of address by providing any of the following:
- Current driver’s license
- Current utility bill or phone bill
- Current rent receipt or lease agreement
- Government mailing (tax statement, etc.)
No personal mail will be accepted as proof of permanent address.
There is a one-time fee of $25.00 to obtain a community card. Exceptions will be made for clergy, alumni, and guests of the College. For everyone there is a $10.00 charge for replacement of a lost card.
Note: Borrowing privileges may be revoked if library policies are not observed.
Borrowing Information
A valid Community Card is required to check out items. A maximum of ten items may be checked out at any given time.
Loan Periods
Library materials circulate for 21 days. Periodicals and Reference books cannot be checked out.
Return Materials
Concordia library materials may be returned to the libraries at MSUM, NDSU or to the Fargo-Moorhead public libraries.
Overdue Materials
Overdue notices are sent to community members the day after an item is due. If an item is not returned within 18 days, a fee of $100 for replacement and processing will be charged.
Interlibrary Loan
The Carl B. Ylvisaker library does not offer interlibrary loan services to Community members. However, we will help you provide the information needed to interlibrary loan material using your public library or the academic institution you attend.
Copying
The copy machines in the Reference Room will operate using your Community Card. Money may be added to the card at the lab station near the Circulation Desk. If you need assistance, please ask at the Computer Help Desk.
