Apply for Admission

A complete application to the Master of Education program requires submission of the following materials:

1. Letter of application indicating intent and required materials submitted for application

2. Completed application for admission to graduate study program

3. Application fee (non-refundable $35 check, made payable to Concordia College)

4. Essay of at least 500 words typed and double-spaced, that represents your highest level of academic writing. Provide a description of your professional experiences and background that have contributed to your readiness for graduate education. Specify those experiences that prepared you for your desired master’s degree. State your professional goals and indicate your potential to achieve this degree.

5. Sealed or certified copies of official transcripts for all post-secondary academic work should be sent directly to the Office of Graduate and Continuing Studies at Concordia College.

6. Two (2) professional references (from professional colleagues, use form provided)

7. One (1) personal reference (no form, letter describing personal characteristics)

Other requirements after admission

Evidence of current immunizations is required prior to attending classes. A form will be sent that should be accompanied by copies of current Diphtheria, Tetanus, and Pertussis (DTP) vaccination and Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) vaccination. MMR is not necessary if student's birth year is prior to 1956.

For international students (non-U.S. citizens):

  • Evidence of English Proficiency
  • For non-English speaking countries, the college must receive official IELTS score results of 6.5 or higher (available through British Counsel offices worldwide), or TOEFL Score results of 80 or higher. IELTS score results are preferred. IELTS or TOEFL testing date must be within 5 years of the date of your M.Ed. application. Test results must be sent directly from the testing service to the Concordia College Office of Graduate & Continuing Studies.
  • Students graduating from a U.S. college/university are exempt from the TOEFL/IELTS test requirement.
  • International student financial aid and certification form must be completed.

Admission Process

The program operates on a rolling admission basis. Review of applicant files will begin on March 1, 2013 and will continue through May 1, 2013 or until the cohort is filled.

All admissions materials must be received and processed by the Office of Graduate and Continuing Studies before files are forwarded to the admission committee for review. Incomplete files will not be reviewed. It is the applicant’s responsibility to follow up on the status of materials submitted to the college.
