Special Opportunities

Concordia’s global studies major – and its eight concentrations – offer you a unique opportunity to study both regional and global issues and the ways in which they intersect.  And the specialized concentrations mean you’ll be able to tailor your studies to your interests, while at the same time benefiting from the program’s interdisciplinary nature. When it comes time for your senior seminar, a required element of the program, you will be able to draw upon different disciplinary perspectives in addressing a global problem.

One of our study abroad options is sure to complement your global studies major. From week-long Exploration Seminars to yearlong programs across the globe, there are dozens of programs to choose from – all designed to increase your understanding of the world and prepare you for global citizenship.

The Global Studies Program hosts Concordia's chapter of Sigma Iota Rho, the premier national honor society for international and global studies. The student-run chapter sponsors an annual contest for the ourstanding paper focuses on a global issue.

Students are encouraged to pursue internship and volunteer opportunities in the Fargo-Moorhead Metro area. Students can earn Cooperative Education credit for these experiences. Information on organizations in the area can be found through this website sponsored by the Fargo-Moorhead Area Foundation: http://www.connectingthedots.cc/.
