Global Studies
Global Studies
Global Studies is the college's flagship program for students interested in global affairs and particular regions of the world. It provides students with the knowledge, skills and perspectives needed to thrive in the 21st century.
Each global studies major chooses one of eight concentrations and takes courses from a variety of different departments. All majors take three core global studies courses: GS 117, GS 118 and GS 410.
Four concentrations focus on themes: Global Development Studies, Global Environmental Studies, Global Systems and Processes, and Worlds in Dialogue.
The other four focus on regions: Asian Studies, European Studies, Latin American Studies and Scandinavian Studies.
Whatever the concentration, the student will acquire an understanding of the globalized nature of today's world while also learning how to make sense of the cultural diversity that is still so prominent.
The program is vibrant and growing, driven by dedicated faculty members from across the campus and an exceptional group of creative, independent-minded and ambitious students who wish to see the world, pursue their personal passions and make a positive difference in the world.
