More About Global Education at Concordia
We’re proud to offer you a global education experience that is recognized both regionally and internationally. Whether you want to
study abroad, learn a new language, or major in
global studies or
international business, we have something unique to offer you.
For instance, did you know that 54 percent of Concordia students travel internationally at least once during their four years of college? The national average is only two percent. In fact, Concordia ranks in the top 10 U.S. liberal arts colleges in the number of students who study abroad and offers more than 20 different study abroad programs.
Award-Winning Global Experience
Here’s another standout aspect of international education at Concordia: in 2006 we were one of five schools in the country to be honored with the
Senator Paul Simon Award for Campus Internationalization by NAFSA: the Association of International Educators. This award recognizes us as a leader in innovative and creative efforts to give students their first taste of all the world has to offer.
At Concordia, we’re dedicated to strengthening our global ties. President Pam Jolicoeur was one of 36 education leaders invited to Istanbul to discuss ideas for strengthening Muslim societies through education. We also recently joined 16 other Minnesota private colleges in an innovative
exchange program with the United International College in Zhuhai, China.
Individually Tailored Programs
If you want to learn a new language or enhance your own global language skills, you’re at the right place. Concordia offers instruction in
nine languages and access to abundant service-learning opportunities and career-shaping internships around the world. Our newest offerings are Chinese and Italian.
Our global studies and international business majors are closely tied to our language departments to help you find your place in a competitive global marketplace. Exciting internships are available all over the globe to gain real experience and training in international affairs.
Innovative programs such as these are only the beginning. The internationally recognized
Concordia Language Villages annually attracts more than 11,000 youth from all 50 states and more than 30 countries for unique immersion learning experiences in 15 languages. Concordia students frequently work as weekend and summer program counselors, strengthening their own language skills while working with youth. The newest additions to the Villages are Arabic and Portuguese.
No matter what your interests, Concordia has an exhilarating program to suit your needs.
