This International Summer School, located in the metropolitan city of Oslo, Norway, is offered in English and Norwegian, depending on student preference, and provides a variety of studies and activities for any interest. The goal is learning in an international context, and the program annually brings together more than 500 students from more than 90 countries. Living and studying together at the University of Oslo, students may choose undergraduate courses in Norwegian language or English courses in culture, literature, history, art history, politics, international relations and contemporary social issues. Graduate courses (also taught in English) are offered in media studies, peace research, international development studies, international community health, special needs education, energy planning and sustainable development. In addition to its emphasis on academic achievement and international good will, the University of Oslo International Summer School offers many cultural and social activities, including excursions into the beautiful Norwegian countryside and the fjords of western Norway, and outstanding recreational activities and cultural events. Open to any major, the program requires the completion of the first year of college and a good academic standing.
