Why Study French at Concordia?

In Concordia’s French program, we are constantly encouraging our students to immerse themselves in the French language by literally living it. Our dedicated faculty are committed to seeking out creative ways for you to hone your French-speaking skills.

Take a French film course, join our French Club or French Honor Society. For even more experience, you can live in the French House, where you can explore the food and culture, speak the language and celebrate holidays with other French students and a native assistant. Take advantage of our renowned global education program by traveling on a faculty-led Exploration Seminar or a monthlong May Seminar or even by studying or interning for a semester abroad.

Our program recently won a Fulbright Hays grant, funding two of our faculty to take a group of teachers to Cameroon next summer – sharing their French teaching talents with other educators.

Share your love of language by tutoring elementary kids after school or working at our renowned Lac du Bois, the French Language Village, where you’ll help young people learn French while gaining valuable experience and honing your own speaking skills.

Whether you are dropping by the department for the weekly café hour or assisting with a French artist exhibit at a local museum, you are bound to meet other French-speaking people who share your love of the culture. Regardless of where your academic and social desires lie, our department is eager to help you explore French culture while also equipping you with valuable experience.
