Friday, October 30, 2009
The fourth annual National Book Awards at Concordia event will be held on Friday, October 30, 2009. This year we are pleased to host two extraordinary authors: Annette Gordon-Reed, 2008 National Book Award winner for Nonfiction and 2009 Pulitzer Prize winner for History, and Maxine Hong Kingston, recipient of the 2008 National Book Foundation Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters. Minnesota Public Radio's Kerri Miller returns to host the event again this year.
The featured Readings and Conversation will be held at 7:30 p.m., Friday, October 30, in the Knutson Center Centrum. This event is hosted by MPR's Kerri Miller, and is structured for those who have read the authors’ books as well as for those who have not. The authors will discuss their creative processes, while also giving the audience a sample of their work through readings and conversation with Kerri Miller. A reception and book signing will follow in the Knutson Campus Center Atrium. The event is open to the public free of charge, and is made possible through a partnership between Concordia College and the National Book Foundation.
Please view the event schedule to learn more about other events on October 30, including master classes and a faculty luncheon with the authors. For more information, please contact Laura Hoverson at (218) 299-3257 or lhoverso@cord.edu.
