Environmental Studies

The goal of the environmental studies program is to develop diverse ways of thinking about and looking at environmental issues affecting our planet.  As an environmental studies student, we desire you to become an ecologically literate citizen of the earth.  Because of this, our program is intentionally designed as interdisciplinary with many of the courses taught in other departments across the campus, not just within the sciences.

Outstanding faculty in many departments, such as biology, political science, art and history, share their expertise through small class sizes, field studies and hands-on experiences, classroom and public presentations, and exceptional opportunities to travel and study abroad.

The environmental studies program offers these majors:

  • Major in environmental studies (environmental sciences concentration) (48 to 56 credits)
  • Major in environmental studies (contract concentration) (32 to 40 credits)
