Global Student Teaching
About:Global Student Teaching can be highly beneficial for students looking to enhance their independence, self awareness and global understanding. Since the program began in 1989, Concordia students have taught in Spain, England, France, Australia, Nepal, Costa Rica and many other regions of the world. Typically, students are placed in schools that use British or American curricula, use English as the primary language of instruction, and feature a very diverse student body.
Eligibility and Application:
This program is limited to individuals who are currently enrolled at Concordia College. The department only accepts exceptionally motivated and highly qualified students into the Global Student Teaching program. In addition to the requirements stated in the Admission and Retention Policy for all student teachers, the department recommends a GPA of at least 3.0 before applying, along with a demonstrated ability to function independently and with a limited amount of on-site supervision. Students interested in this program should meet first with Dr. Deb Grosz, the Director of Field Experiences. Subsequent planning for a global placement will occur with either Dr. Grosz or Dr. Michael Wohlfeil, working collaboratively with the Office of Global Education.
