First-Year Experience Faculty Development Program:

The First-Year Experience (FYE) development program will consist of summer workshops and events during the academic year designed to help faculty implement and modify the program, approved by the Faculty Senate.

Exploration Course Faculty Development Program:

The Exploration Course Sequence in the new curriculum will focus on how students can achieve the Goals for Liberal Learning in the specific disciplinary courses. These courses have students reflect on the Goals for Liberal Learning and thus reinforce the connection between liberal learning and various academic disciplines.

Perspectives Faculty Development Program:

In the new core, students will be expected to take one course on Perspectives in U.S. Cultural Diversity and one course on Global Perspectives. These may be courses in the core, major, or electives that focus on these perspectives. Initial development work will focus on defining the expectations for these courses. Later work will help faculty develop courses related to these perspectives within the context of their disciplines.

Faculty Pedagogical Development in the Core Curriculum:

A series of other programs is needed in order to enhance student learning in the core. These programs have been identified by the Faculty Senate.
