Faculty Writing Retreat
Join 12 Concordia colleagues for the Faculty Writing Retreat at Lesnoe Ozero, the Russian Language Village on Turtle River Lake near Bemidji, MN. Facility details below. The all expenses paid, five-day retreat is scheduled for May 7 - 11, 2012.
Join a community of writers who offer each other support and informal feedback during the writing retreat. Participants will spend several hours each day on individual writing projects or writing-related scholarly activities, but join other writers for ethnic meals at the Lesnoe Ozero dining hall, a ten-minute walk away. Snacks will be provided on a daily basis as well. Participants may have opportunities for additional activities such as hiking, touring other Concordia Language Villages, enjoying evening campfires, and more.
Participants will be expected to work on reading and writing projects that somehow contribute to the Concordia community of scholar-teachers, such as a dissertation, publication, creative endeavor, curriculum writing, and so on. At the end of the retreat, participants will write a short report that summarizes the progress made during the week. Once the report has been completed, participants will receive a $100.00 stipend.
Gregg Muilenburg, Associate Dean for Core Curriculum and Faculty Development, Stephanie Ahlfeldt, CSTA, and Joan Kopperud, English, will co-facilitate the retreat. Laptop computers and other writing resources will be provided as needed.
