Special Opportunities

Your passion for classical studies doesn’t have to stay in the classroom with ancient books and maps. Instead, experience the beauty of the past by traveling on the “Vanished Civilizations of the Mediterranean” May Seminar, one of the college’s most popular and longest running study abroad programs. Maybe you’d rather participate in an archaeological dig in Greece or Italy, an expedition that previously discovered an extremely rare collection of 99 solid gold coins in Israel.

If you’d rather stay closer to home, you can join Eta Sigma Phi, the national honorary classics society. Society members will take field trips and enjoy movie nights and other special activities related to studying the classics. If you’re interested in gaining experience for future careers, you can help organize and run Latin Days, a summer program for high school students that offers instruction in classical and New Testament Greek, mythology, classical archaeology and scientific terminology.
