Go Figure
Jon Taves came to Concordia planning to follow his father’s footsteps and become an attorney. When he took his first economics class, he fell in love with facts and figures. This love affair is no fling. Taves already has a job at Grant Thornton, the fifth largest public accounting firm in the world.Taves will graduate with an economics and accounting double major. He appreciates how his liberal arts education has helped him add depth to his education.
"What’s really nice about Concordia is that you don’t just specialize in business," says Taves. "With the core curriculum, you take classes all over the spectrum."
Beyond the classroom, Taves has enjoyed the wealth of experiences he’s had at Concordia. He participates in many organizations, including student government. He has served as an orientation leader, and he works in admissions. Concordia even helped him find an internship last summer at Cargill.
All these experiences helped lead him to his first job, and he is definitely excited to be able to enjoy his senior year.
"Having a job just takes a little of the pressure off," Taves says "I can enjoy other things."
