Recycling
The Concordia community has been recycling for years and it’s difficult to walk through a building without seeing the familiar blue bins. Recyclable materials include aluminum, paper, newsprint, cardboard, plastic, steel, tin and magazines.
All of the bins are emptied weekly and the recyclables are picked up by
Min-Kota Recycling in Moorhead. In 2006 alone, Concordia recycled 199,545 pounds (nearly 100 tons) of materials – materials that otherwise would have gone into the landfill.
Mark Dixon, physical plant stockroom supervisor who oversees the recycling program, credits its success to excellent financial and leadership support on behalf of the college and great compliance from students, faculty and staff.
