Dr. Dovre's Family Weekend Sending Remarks

You have had these days of reunion and celebration:  good entertainment, a winning soccer game, bean bag competition, three-legged races, ice cream, academic conversation and good food-maybe a trip to Target or Wal-Mart or a meal off campus.  But whatever the activity-you've been together again.

Soon the campanile will sound and some will return home and others will return to campus life.  In some sense, two different worlds but in the family sense-still one world where affection and affirmation and a shared story hold you together in unshakable though invisible embrace.

And, in the words of our late campus pastor Carl Lee, on the homeward journey you will pray:  "I'll love you forever, I will pray for you always-As long as I'm living your parent I will be."

And students will express in their own words:  "Mom and Dad, I'll love you forever; I'll care for you always.  As long as you're living, your child I will be."  And so the journey will continue and the ties will never end.

Go now in peace and safety and in the glow of God's love for you all.
