Position Profile
The next President of Concordia College must have an earned doctorate or evidence of extraordinary intellectual engagement and will be a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. As a scholar and leader, the President will guide the academic community and contribute actively to the faith and learning discussions of the campus.Other significant capabilities and experiences required of the selected candidate include the following:
- Embrace, articulate and advance Concordia's mission with vision and passion
- Foster a vibrant and empowered community through a proven leadership style that evokes trust, welcomes debate and collaboration, reflects confident decision making, and effectively engages the talents and experiences of the Board of Regents, administration, and faculty
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of and experience with academic communities of higher learning and possess a strong commitment to high academic standards and the enhancement of teaching, learning and scholarship
- Connect authentically with students and understand their intellectual, spiritual, social, and physical gifts and needs
- Demonstrate the ability to develop and implement a long-term strategic plan
- Recruit, develop and lead staff and administration effectively
- Embrace Concordia's focused commitment to global learning and demonstrate the ability to lead the college to expand its role in international education
- Provide essential leadership in fund-raising, working collaboratively with the board and advancement staff to implement successfully the college's program for resource development
- Ensure a comprehensive and strategic process to attract, recruit, and retain outstanding students
- Oversee a sound budgetary and fiscal planning process that sustains and enhances the college's long-term financial strength
- Possess extraordinary intellectual engagement and resilience, while exhibiting humility
- Communicate effectively and inspire confidence
